World War II has reached the Aisne territory into his flesh.

While the last witnesses disappear, the Paths of Memory 39-45 into the landscape of the Community of Municipalities Chauny - Tergnier, the memory of a generation.

They will lead you to discover the actions of those who for some have made the ultimate sacrifice so that a word finds its meaning: Freedom.

The sources at our disposal, we were able to compile a list of facts, to establish panels whose content to date is not exhaustive.

We wanted to stay as close to the source, so the Captain Dromas encoded content of the book on the topic of airmen is brought to you as you can read in his memoirs. The work on the memory of each other is long, it can be done without the participation of everyone.

We count on you, when the concepts of nation and Republic are too often misguided to make sense, recall the commitment of our seniors during the war years.

Each one will discover the heart of the Paths of Memory, anecdotes, stories that make the great history lived by a territory and its inhabitants.

The origin of the project
The Museum of the Resistance and Deportation of Picardy conducted several years of research bringing together elements related to acts of war or resistance during the Second World War, which took place on the territory of the Community of Communes chauny - Tergnier.
50 acts of war and resistance were selected.

True historical record, the document lists all the actions of its network.

Working meetings have taken place between representatives of the museum and that of the Community of Communes Chauny - Tergnier order to share with the public the results of this research.

The creation of the Paths of Memory, a trail with informative totems relating these facts took place naturally.

This project is experiencing a strong territorial basis and consolidates the initiatives of former resistance fighters, local patriotic movements and citizens committed to the duty of memory. It has an important educational role, particularly in young audiences as requested by Mr. Etienne Dromas.

Keep in the collective memory, the actions of people who are engaged in the fight against Nazism. These trails allow to honor the memory of those civilians and soldiers who participated in the liberation of our country.

More than mere information, the project carries a message:
